BREAKING NEWS: Delaware County Files Contempt of Court against Media Borough

Media Patch is reporting today that in addition to BLCC, Delaware County who has contributed funds to the Third St. Bridge design, is also filing a contempt of court complaint against the borough.  Two weeks ago Council President, Brian Hall, Monica Simpson, Eric Stein and Kent Davidson voted in favor of a one-way road across the bridge/dam, despite petitions and residents wanting a two-way.  Simpson and Stein were on council when the agreement was settled in 2011.  At that time there was no objection to a two-way roadway or even mention of a one-way.

Brian Hall and Kent Davidson who lives 50' from the bridge both signed petitions for the Friends of Glen Providence Park while campaigning last year.  In fact, they and the Media Democratic party have outright applauded the group that has gone on to resist this project, which will now go back to court at taxpayer's expense.

Media Borough council's mismanagement of this entire project over the last 16 years while millions in financing hold in the balance, has many questioning their judgement and representation of this town.

It's Sunday 9-30-12......Media in Two Minutes

Here we are again with another Sunday morning, so that could only mean......Media in Two Minutes!

Let's Go!

Coming up next week......Media Food and Craft Festival OCT 7
Oct 7, 10-5pm
It was better when it was purely a Food festival, but this year it'll include crafts too.  Remember when this event was the show down for who in the area had the best crab cakes?  A lot of people favored the Little Inn, but eitherway that's when this event was a lot of fun.  West Chester has a stellar turn-out for their Food Festival, which I hope Media can take a few queues from.

The Great Pumpkin Carving Contest:
A big THANKS to Drew Arata and Earth and State for hosting the pumping carving contest last evening on Plum Street Mall.  It's great that Linvilla Orchards was such a big supporter of this and contributed to the effort.   We'll have to get a tally of who had the best pumpkin carving abilities.  Here are a few pictures.

Power Women in Media: Mary Bigham and Susan Garrison
Nothing makes writing this blog easier than when I can showcase people doing great things.  Congratulations to Mary and Susan for being recognized in Main Line Today's 21 Power Women.

Mary started West Chester Dish which is a foodies bible of what's great in the world of food.  The site and business was such a success that Media has it's own "Dish" representation via Media Dish.  They do a great job and are quite handy with navigating all the great restaurants in the area.

Susan runs the Media Foundation Center here in the borough and has been a leading force with advocating women issues here in Delaware county.  Whether instilling independence, self sufficiency or a host of personal skill, this foundation does it all and has helped many.  Her foundation also serves Montgomery and Chester counties too.

Swiss Farms in Media PA
Media Loves Swiss Farms
How much more convenient can convenience get?  Let me begin with how great of a 'true value' the Swiss Farm in Media provides.  Drive up groceries, easy in and out and the King of last minute needs.....like milk.   I like our Swiss Farms and know a lot you all do to.  But here's new twist, in the coming week's Swiss Farms will provide online grocery shopping.  Let your fingers do the typing, jump in your vehicle and swing by the store for the pick up.  I'm not sure who might use this, as it's just as long to type in your order, than just going to the store, but pretty neat either way.

Do we need a fancy cigar store?
Rose's on Baker and Olive St.
There was talk late this Summer that a high-end cigar store was interested in setting up in Media.  That fell through, but fear not.  One of the best and friendliest stores in Media also sells a wide and premium selection of cigars.  That's Rose's on Olive and Baker Streets.  A Media CLASSIC!

Rose Tree Colts to dedicate field to Founder

Next Saturday, October 6th at 12pm, The Rose Tree Colts football team will honor their founder by dedicating their field in his name.  Look forward to being there.

Penncrest wins MEDIA BOWL!....31 to 29!
When I played it was known at the Media Burger King Bowl, as the winner had the bragging rights of the hangout that both Penncrest and Strathaven routinely visited during football season.   Each Friday night both teams would go to Burger King (now Nova bank across from Starbucks) to have dinner and rally for the next days Central League game.  There wasn't much to do back then, so this was always a big night for both schools.  Glad to see the rivalry is still there.

Burglary Reported on Farnum Rd.
please call 610-804-6169
Last week Media Patch reported a burglary on Farnum Road.  I try to bring attention to these types of incidents the best I can, though if you see suspicious activity, please call 911.  Though this is technically Upper Providence, it's in close proximity to Media who should do a better job at notifying residents of these types of incidents.

Have you seen this cat?
A cat was found in the vicinity of 5th and Jackson Streets.  If you're missing a cat or know someone who is, you may want to call the number 610-804-6169

Condos on Jefferson and Edgemont
They cleared the lot quite quickly so actual construction can't be too far away.  I'm not sure people were aware how much space this lot had.

Edgemont and Jefferson Streets

Media is getting Credit Card capable Parking Meters
Media is set to get upgraded parking meters with the ability to accept credit cards.  I've not see the setup and not sure how it'll actually work.  My question, would a parking payment kiosk have been better and more current with the times?  You see them down town and at a lot of the shore towns in Jersey and Delaware.

The $3.4 million Question?!?!?!
It shouldn't be a question at all, but Media Borough Council continues to show poor judgement on an issue that's plagued this town and taxpayers for 16 years.  Last week a contempt of court complaint was filed against Media Borough for their decision for a one-lane roadway to be built across the bridge/dam.  With questions now raised over what will happen with the $3.4 million in funding, one can only wonder why borough council would challenge a prior agreement and judge issued court order.

Last week I contact Media Borough for a statement on this matter and what ramifications this will have towards the funding.

Media's $20,000, five minute "Today in America" infomercial to film next week.
The hits just keep coming from Media Borough as next week it's expected that the $20,000 informercial will begin filming.  Despite the outcry from taxpayers and local businesses who would have liked to have the opportunity to bid on this project, Mayor Bob McMahon decided otherwise.   This after it was found the production company doing the filming was investigated and fined by the Florida Attorney General for misleading businesses and town.

Essentially, Media was caught up in a telemarketing scam that no one on council took the time to investigate until it was revealed on this site.  Instead of cancelling, Media Borough Council has decided to continue.  $20,000 could have gone to fixing the Olive Street Garage along with cleaning up State Street and an host of other issues.  If anything, this should have gone to bid to local companies for the best value at the best price.

Help Kids Fight Cancer is hitting the Streets.....State Street

If you were up early this morning you would have seen the folks gathering up and down State Street for Penn States "Help Kids Fight Cancer" street corner fundraiser.  This event has become a well known tradition for the Penn State students who converge upon Delaware County and many other areas to raise money for this effort.

They have great weather today, so while you're out, don't forget to help a great cause.

BREAKING NEWS: Contempt of Court Complaint Filed against Media Borough over Third St. Bridge.

Last Thursday, Council President, Brian Hall, Monica Simpson, Eric Stein and Kent Davidson voted in favor of a one-way bridge design during the September 20th Council meeting.  During that time, they never once explained the consequences to the community of going against a pre-determined court order and an agreement that council previously settled with the two stakeholders: (BLCC and Delaware County).  This after Monica Simpson and Eric Stein, both of which agreed to the original settlement in 2011.

Their justification for a one-way road was based on what they thought the term “reestablish” meant.  Anyone for a greenway seems to think that means something different than what the rest of the town believes, and that is a two way roadway.  Before the bridge closed it was two way, to reestablish would mean to return it to such.   Petitions and the majority of attendees at September council meetings asserted this, yet the democratic council, mired by well noted controversy, held to their implied definition.  Subsequently they also stated they were persuaded by a survey created by Third St. Bridge CAC committee. The same CAC that Borough council not only appointed FROG officers to, but also created a survey that never included or weighed costs associated with each option.

For the safety of this town that is threatened by one of the state’s top ten dangerous dams, this council should have made safety a priority and began this project months ago. It was paid for, it was ready!  They also should have taken into consideration their fiduciary responsibilities to taxpayers that includes the state financing that will cover 100% of the cost. An amount that totals $3.4 million.  Unfortunately, they chose to ignore both and the consequences could be dire.

It now looks like they will now have to fight it further at the expense of taxpayers.  I received a call today that BLCC has filed a contempt of court complaint against Media Borough and I’m hearing the county is expected to  follow suit.  For those in this town who didn’t think the bridge would effect you by either travel or taxes, you may now want to pay attention.  The borough has a deadline to provide an answer to Penndot that regards the funding for this project.  How is this going to happen if it’s in court?

I'll will be contacting Media borough today for a statement on this matter and what implications this has for the funding of this project.

$20,000 5 minute video "Today in America" to film next week

$20,000 for 5 minutes of video.
Back in July Media residents questioned the need for a 5 minute video at the cost of $20,000.  I too found that rate astronomical and followed up by looking into the proposed deal Media had with a company in Florida.  This company is producing the video clips to be associated with Terry Bradshaw's "Today in America."  For those wondering if Terry will be visiting Media, he will not be.

Turns out the company was investigated and fined by the Florida Attorney General for misleading businesses and towns into thinking the video would be seen on major networks. It's controversial enough to even be called a telemarketing sales scam.   Apparently, we here in Media may not even see the show "Today in America" but others will in viewing  markets such as California and Texas.  That is if they are up at 7:30am on a Sunday morning, as that's the typical time slot for this show.   Not exactly the target markets for tourism to Media.

Media not only chose to proceed with the company, but failed to put this work out to bid to capable, local businesses.  As a leader in fair business practices  by being America's First Fair Trade Town, the irony is here is a little much.  So much in fact that I wrote Mayor Bob McMahon an email requesting answers to why this work wasn't considered for local companies and why it was a good idea to get involved with this controversial outfit.  He never formally replied but went on to say he has a lot of experience in this area.

Either way, next week this production team will be in town to film this video.  Looks like they'll be at Media Elementary School on Tuesday. Hopefully I'll have a few minutes to get down there an meet the crew.....I have a few questions.

It's Sunday 9-23-12......Media in Two Minutes

There are a lot of thing going on in and around Media, so I'll try to cover them as quickly as I can.

Let's Go!

New Bakery Coming to Media: Viso's!
Viso's will be located on N. Jackson Street at the site of the former Four Paws pet store.  Opening is expected to be November 1st.  Check them out on Facebook and welcome to Media.

Media Youth Center Winter Basketball Registartions:
A long time Media tradition, check out the Youth Center's registration information.  A great program doing great things for the community.  I played for the Youth Center and still have many friendships from the experience, despite my football mentality.

Media's 10th Annual CAC Fine Arts and Crafts Festival:
Nice event held yesterday on State Street.  I didn't purchase anything, but they did have some nature wood finished tables for sale that were STELLAR.  Very Nice.

Next up will be Media's 32nd Food and Crafts Festival held on October 7th.  I liked it when it was purely known for the food part.  I think adding crafts to the extent they have been over the years, makes this feel more like another Super Sunday.

Dining Under the Star.....Grand Finale
It's been a banner year for Dining Under the Stars, but all good things must come to an end, at least for this season.  Wednesday, September 26th will be the last DUS of the season.

Media VFW making News
Last week the Media VFW held an event to recognize National POW/MIA Awareness Day.  Here's a great story featured in the Daily Times.

FRIDAY Dinners 6:30 to 8pm are back starting in October.  Check out their upcoming events.

Rose Tree Colts to dedicate field in honor of founder, William "Chief" Hampton
This will be a very proud moment for Media and Rose Tree when the Colts dedicate their field in honor of founder, William "Chief" Hampton.  The ceremony will begin at 12pm at Rose Tree School.  As a RTC alumni, I will be there!

New development underway at Edgmont and Jefferson:
Last week, heavy equipment moved on to the property to clear the lot for the upcoming condo units.  Development of any sort is a sensitive subject to Media and the comments towards that post reflected that. This seems to be moving fast and I'll provide weekly updates and pictures as work progresses.

To gain a bit of context about the project, check out the piece done by the Daily Times awhile back.

Is Media ready for another 5 Miler?
The Media 5 mile run is a big success, but how about another?  Seems one is in the works but meeting resistance from Borough Council.  I don't yet know all the details, but looks like a neat idea.

Voter ID and Help at the Polls:
The Pennsylvania courts are still deciding this one, but make sure you have a voter ID just in case.  Check out VotesPA.com for more information.  The deadline to register to vote for the November 6 election is Tuesday, October 9. You can download a voter registration form at www.votespa.com

Where is your Media voting poll?  Check out the link.

As always, help at the polls is always needed.  No matter what party affiliation, staffing the polls as a judge, machine operator or inspector is critical.  Unfortunately, most of our polling places in Media are understaffed come election day.  Get involved!

Third Street Bridge Update: The GOOD, BAD and UGLY
The "Good" is that people are starting to realize that this borough council was manipulating the outcome of this project the whole time.  Here's what one resident had to say in the Daily Times.  The "Bad" is that this will probably go back to court based on Council President Brian Hall's decision to complicate the matter by accepting a one-lane design over the financed, approved and ready to go two-lane requirement.  The "UGLY" Media Borough Council has seriously jeopardized the funding and its fiduciary responsibility if this should remain in court for any length of time.

Last week's Borough Council Meeting:
If Councilwoman, Monica Simpson feels the need to apologize for behavior at council meetings, maybe she should start with Paul Robinson when he made a prepared statement to insult Middletown, Upper Providence and Rose Tree Media School for passing their resolutions for opening the Third St. Bridge.  Monica Simpson was out of order for denouncing Councilwoman Dawn Roe who was speaking up on her thoughts regarding the council's conduct.  Many people in the audience were embarrassed by what now seems to be typical bickering among council members at these meetings.

Where's Media's Mayor, Bob McMahon?
Last Wednesday, Bob McMahon at Dining Under the Stars wanted me to know and told me that he fully supports a two-way design for the Third Street Bridge.  Unfortunately, that statement and leadership was never needed more than during the council meeting the very next day.  What happened?  Mayor Bob McMahon sat quietly throughout the whole meeting and never said a word in support of the people who were they petitioning council on the two-way design. NOT ONE WORD!

Media Residents and Business, We Can Do Better!

Better Representation , Better Transparency,
The political games and antics displayed at last Thursday's Borough Council over the Third Street Bridge were a total embarrassment and costly.  I'll get into it more next week, but essentially, Brian Hall has jeopardized the whole project by allowing and accepting a one-lane design for the Third Street Bridge.  The placating and favoritism he, Davidson and Robinson have shown to the group (Friends of Glen Providence) park, has not only revealed a political agenda, but a compromise of integrity and trust.  Can we assume Councilman Davidson will be seeding and supplying websites to other groups that align with his political interests towards the Super Wawa?  After this fiasco, I'd say it's a fair question.

Council President Hall never once explained the potential financial risks of going against the court order other than that he had a viable interpretation of "Re-establish" which was the language used in the settlement.  Seems the county and BLCC disagree and have been begun legal discussions.  That's very bad news.  But I think that's what this council wanted all along, which is to lose the funding.  I'll explain that later.

At September's Council Workshop, President Hall stated that the funding was not in jeopardy.  Ironically, he just jeopardized it.  Media Borough Council made a irresponsible bet on a dangerous dam, against a judge issued court order and two stakeholders who have different assertions.

And for what?  To appease a group of 10 people who demand a walkway/one-way at the expense of a multimillion dollar project that'll affect the rest of the town?  With the two-way design, Borough Council could have accepted it and moved forward. Show me another community that's given a fully funded Infrastructure project to address a serious safety concern, only to have its elected officials snub it.

These are the exact political games that have menaced this town for years.  At last week's meeting no one said anything in support of a one-way design, while most of the room spoke up and brought petitions supporting a two-way.  It's apparent, Media Borough Council is broken.

Residents have had enough and nothing has illustrated that more than this story!  I'm quite honored to be working with Democrats, Republicans and Independents who are cooperatively working to address this situation and the conduct of Media Borough Council.  Whether it be signs, petitions or raising awareness, it's refreshing to see TRUE  bi-partisan action at work.

Media VFW Post 3460 observes POW/MIA Recognition Day!

I'm not sure many people were aware of National POW/MIA Awareness Day which is observed on the third Friday of every September, but thanks to the great folks at the Media VFW, we now know!  Here's a great article on the event that recognizes those who are still yet to return home.

BREAKING NEWS: Media residents begin petition over lack of progress and proposed limited acess to Third St. Bridge

BREAKING NEWS:

In response to a lack of progress by Media Borough Council on the fully funded Third Street Bridge project, Media residents have begun rallying behind a petition today supporting two way access across the proposed structure.

Below is a copy sent to me late this afternoon. Residents are going door to door asking for signatures.

It's Sunday 9-16-12.......Media in Two Minutes

It's a little late getting out this am......but here it is, "Media in Two Minutes!"

Let's go!

Fall Super Sunday 2012!
If you didn't know, today is Media's Fall Super Sunday.  I'm not sure what people think of this event anymore; however it does mark the kick-off of Fall in Media.  The Food Fest is scheduled for October 7th.  I'm not sure how much the Brandywine CVB is involved with this year's Food Festival, but they always provide a noticeable marketing and organization boost to these types of events.

MediaPAMatters
A couple months back I was approached by Amanda Kaplan who was looking for ideas for a community volunteer project.  I not only thought it was a good project, but worth kick starting by providing a Amazon Kindle Fire to who ever provided the best cause.

We received many, but the one that won entailed having a community fair at Barrall Park.  Conceptually, it's a great plan, but will take some work; however, Amanda is doing a great job getting this together.  Please check out her site at www.mediapamatters.com, and if you have the time, volunteers are always welcomed.

The World Famous Log Cabin Inn of Media
A lot of people liked the matchbook cover posted of the Old Log Cabin Inn of Media.  It burned down in 1993 and was located where the Granite Run GMC/Buick dealership currently is now.  Anyway, I had a few prints made up and will let you know how they turn out.

Here's a little history on the owners, the restaurant and the many people who entertained there.

Keep Your Butts Off State Street.
Great job by TimeBank Media who along with the Media MBA, organized a clean up effort on Saturday to tackle the cigarette butt issue that has menaced State Street.  In fact, they'll be having this clean up effort every 2nd Saturday of each month.

Dining Under the Stars
Perhaps the most successful season to date, but there's only two DUS nights left for the year.

Third Street Bridge Update
Daily Times reporter, Susan Serbin posted an article covering Council's last workshop meeting.  One item she failed to mention, was Councilman's Kent Davidson's idea to procure a bond in the event the funding somehow expired for the Third Street Bridge.  As surprising that was to the audience, let's hope that doesn't happen.

The mismanagement of this whole affair by borough council, along with their biased positions towards the Friends of the Glen Providence park group, as pointed out many times, is not good for this town.  Here's an article from a Media resident on the subject.

The next meeting is Thursday September 20th for the monthly borough council meeting.  Which I will ask again for the THIRD time: What are borough council's thoughts on Councilman Kent Davidson providing undisclosed services and resources to a special interest group lobbying for his decision on a $3.4 million project?

A GREAT Night for the Delco Literacy Council

Delco Literacy Council

I’d like to recognize the efforts of Daily Times Editor,Phil Heron and the Delco Literatcy Council for the outstanding celebration theyheld at their Chester location for International Literacy Day .  I was invited to attend, but had no idea how big this event was going to be until I tried to pull into the parking lot.  There was no parking! The place was packed.

Not only did they have volunteers, students and faculty, but representatives from the Philadlephia Union Soccer Team and Chester Mayor, John Linder.  It was a great community event that brought a tremendous amount of awareness to the literacy challenges we have here in Delaware County.  If you want to get energized, check out some of the great stories of people who have benefited from the services of the Delco Literacy Council.  It’s literally, changing people’s lives!

A Tribute in the passing of Media local Ronald E. Pierce

To understand Media, you sometimes have to look beyond State Street with the vibrant bars and restaurtants. The true fabric of this town are the generations of families who grew up here, and people like Ronald “Ronnie” E. Pierce who recently passed away.

Here's a wonderful story on Media and a nice tribute to Ronald.  Not only was he a tremendously well liked person, but one who made this community better through his service to this town.

A little history on the old Log Cabin Inn that you may not have know.

Matchbook from the 1950'
I found the following Log Cabin Inn picture from a friend who had posted it on his Facebook page.  I asked if I could borrow it, as I knew others would like it too.  Intrigued, I wanted to find out more with what had happened to the Log Cabin Inn.  I knew it had burned down, but never really knew the history in its entirety.

The last time I was there was for a Penncrest Football dinner held in honor of the graduating seniors, which included myself.  It was back during the Christmas holiday in 1986, we had steak dinners and I don't know why I remember that.  Like most things, you never know what you have until it's gone.  For people not familiar with this restaurant, it kind of had the ambiance of the Media Towne House and it was big.

I remember reading about the fire in the Daily Times, though this happened way before newspapers posted article online.  After much searching, I did come across the obituary of the former owner Emma "Mandy" Zerlando, which really tells a great story I never knew.
Emma M. "Mandy" Zerlando, 103, a longtime resident of Middletown and owner of the Log Cabin Inn restaurant, died August 2 at Monticello House at Riddle Village. She was the widow of Ernest Zerlando, who died in 1990. Together they built, owned and operated the Log Cabin Inn restaurant from 1949 until 1993, when the landmark restaurant was destroyed by fire. The original structure was built by hand in 1948 by Mr. and Mrs. Zerlando and her son, Richard Schultz. The restaurant grew over the years from a one-room inn, with a fireplace for heat, which seated 40 guests, to one of the area's largest restaurant and banquet facilities. For 40 years, the Log Cabin was famous for fine dining and live stage shows. Patrons enjoyed local and national comedians here, including Cozy Morley, Joey, Mel and Rummy Bishop; Rodney Dangerfield; Fisher and Marks; Phil Jay; Bunny Sigler; Bill Haley and Tony Santoro, to name a few. Over the years, the banquet facility was the setting for school reunions, political functions, weddings, proms and expositions. Mrs. Zerlando's life was dedicated to the growth and success of the Log Cabin Inn. Over the years, the log Cabin's dining and entertainment fare changed to meet the taste of the patrons. Big bands, comedy, rock and roll, disco and country music were all presented over the years. Even though her husband, son, and later grandson Richard Jr., handled the daily operations, Mrs. zerlando was the undisputed boss and decision-maker at the Log Cabin. Mrs. Zerlando was a member of Nativity BVM Church, Media. She was predeceased by her son, richard J. Schultz, in 1999. She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Greene of Middletown; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Interment Media Cemetery. Memorial contributions to an animal shelter of the donor's choice would be appreciated.

It's Sunday 9-9-12.......Media in Two Minutes

Thanks for all the responses and readers who take the time to read "Media in Two Minutes,"  I didn't know there were so many of you.  For those that are new to this Sunday morning post; it's a quick rundown of the week's issues along with the latest perspective on what's going on around town.  Look for it each Sunday by 9am.

Ok, Let's Go!

Great Media Garage Sale:
It's been happening for 26 years, but has the great garage sale lost some luster?  I remember about 6-8 years ago this was a really big event that sort of felt like a big social get together.  Many people had setup and displayed their items while causally talking to their neighbors throughout the whole event.  That still goes on, but seems to be on a lot smaller scale.

Yesterday's event started at 9am, seemed to peak at 11am and was about over by 2pm.  Attendance seemed light to moderate.

If you have items that didn't sell and may be useful to someone else, check out today's Media Freemarket.  It's a barter exchange event.

Next Up! Fall Super Sunday -  September 16th 2012
Affectionately known as "Super Sock Sunday" among the locals, Fall Super Sunday is a week away.

2012 Dining Under the Stars Season ends September 26th
Hurry, it's still not too late to get another couple Wednesday Dining Under the Stars evenings in.  There are THREE left.  The season end on Wednesday, September 26th!

Media Eateries:
I learned that construction is underway for the latest pizza place to come to Media - DoubleDecker Pizza.  No date on the grand opening, but perhaps in the coming weeks.

La Porta
It's not a big place to begin with, but La Porta has definitely become the hottest place around.  The secret is out and if you think you can just walk in on a Saturday evening an sit down at the bar, you're mistaken.  The place is packed, but very nice job on providing valet service.

I don't eat pizza, but here we were back with in a month to have the same pizza dish I had before.  Do they take reservation?  I don't know.

Don't forget to try Italian food served Mexican style.....or maybe that's the other way around.  Eitherway, Ariano's has Mexican night on Monday's.

Delaware County Literacy Council:
This Wednesday, Sept. 12th, I'll be helping Phil Heron, Editor of the Delcotimes with spreading awareness on a very BIG issue that doesn't get a lot of exposure.  That's the Delaware County Literacy Council.  We'll be doing a live video cast and to help out, I've offered any resources or services to help spread the word.  You can read my story about this cause here.

Media's Third Street Bridge - Expired Leadership
I attended last Thursday's Council workshop meeting to better understand what has been happening since council's vote in favor of the project back in April.  I can sum it up in one word: NOTHING!  Here we are with council proposing to extending deadlines for funding while nothing has been done in the last five months.

Borough Council needs to decide if they are going to do this project that's fully funded or not.  Delaying this just drives up the costs as we seen over 16 years.  There's no reason to hear "I don't know" and "We're working hard" when not a thing has been done.  Based on what I saw Thursday, the lack of leadership is starting to anger this community with some openly questioning the relationship this borough has with a special interest group.  Has borough council been caught in a secret deal?  We will find out, but to have no plan for a $3.4 million project just goes to show how quickly we are sliding back at the hands of this group.

Truthfully, there are probably less than 12 people who are actively still trying to hold this project up despite the 5-2 council vote in favor, along with the court order stipulation that includes (not interpreted) a two lane bridge for traffic.  It's a shame that of these 12 people, a few are on borough council.  Leadership you can trust?

A Bad Reflection on Media:
It was bad enough that Councilman, Paul Robinson took the time to eloquently insult the people of Middletown, Upper Providence and the RTM school board when he was on the losing side of the Third St. Dam vote; however, to speak to Bob Linn (Linn Architects) in the way that he did Thursday night is unacceptable and embarrassing to the this town.  The condescending comments and arrogance are not appreciated.
