Not the trolley, but a train just on the outskirts of town w/video

It doesn't run all the time, you can't take it to work and compared to SEPTA the fares might be a little steep for a very old train on and old railroad, but the nostalgia of riding a train through the winding landscape of Glen Mills, Edgmont and Thornbury are, as they say, priceless.

Many say we're lucky to have the 101 trolley run right down State Street in Media, and we are.  However,  if you're looking for another adventure that is ideal for kids of all ages, look now further than the West Chester RR.  They do many events this time of year and run a few times each Saturday and Sunday.  One of the great trips they have entails taking their train to a Christmas tree farm, cutting down a tree, throwing it on the train and trekking back to the station.
That folks, it pretty neat in anyone's book.

Check at the West Chester RR on Facebook.  They are an all volunteer crew who have an unwavering love of trains and the imagination they capture.

Locust Crest Tavern.....to become La Porta

The site where the former Locust Crest was, is now undergoing a full renovation to prepare for the opening a new restaurant by the name of La Porta.  From what I've been told the new creation will be a pizzeria/wine bar atmosphere.  More can be read here.

I had a chance to stop by and see the work being done to the building.  From what I saw, it will look a lot different from the old Locust Crest when complete.  I just hope the keep the working fireplace.

The sign says they'll be open in 2012, but I've heard it may be sooner than that.  I was quite fond of the Locust Crest, but this will definitely be worth a try.  Good luck to La Porta!

They raised the roof and added windows to the former bar area

Congratulations to Media Borough Council Winners

Having been an unsuccessful candidate for this year's Media Borough Council, I wanted to congratulate yesterday's winners: Brian Hall, Paul Robinson and Kent Davidson.  I wish them the best of luck over the next four years.

Campaigning for any office is a tough business and I have the utmost respect for people who sacrifice their time and energy for Media.

I hope to see you around town.

Polls are open from 7am to 8pm.

Leadership that Works for Media - VOTE Tuesday, Nov. 8th 7am to 8pm

Five things that would not have happened under the Democratic Majority on Media Borough Council, but happened by bi-partisan cooperation let by Pete Alyanakian and Monika Rehoric.
  1. Resolved decade long lawsuits over Third Street Bridge.
  2. Received over $750k for repair and design work or Third Street Bridge at no expense to Media Taxpayers
  3. Sold 1 West State St. to the highest bidder (note: Media democrats turned down $1 million dollar offer)
  4. Delaware County's Brandywine Convention and Visitors Bureau, having confidence in Media's new leadership (Pete Alyanakian and Monika Rehoric) contributed $20,000 to the borough for events.
  5. Defeated Croynism: Replaced the Chairman of the Brookhaven Democratic party who was also the engineer of Media Borough.  This engineer received $250k no-bids from the democratic majority, while giving back political kick backs in the thousands of dollars to fund their campaigns.

Boro Candidate, Tedman O'Hara receives BIG support from Media Residents

Plumstead Inn Nov. 2011
It was not only a lot of fun, but an honor to receive such a great turn-out last night at the Plumstead Inn in Media.  From 7 to 9pm I was on hand to talk with and meet residents.  I was humbled by those who no only support me, but also Pete Alyanakian, Toni Cavanagh and schoolboard candidate Chris Guilday.

The responsibility of a councilperson, is being a part of the community.  I grew up here and know many of you as a friend, neighbor or classmate.  Running for Media Borough Council, I will put my judgement, character and integrity up against any other candidate.

I'm counting on your vote
Tuesday, November 8th.

Do you know where your polling location is? If not use the map below.

URGENT: The Northern Precinct May Not be Open for Voters

UPDATE: 11/7/11 Media will have the Northern Precint, and all precincts open for election day.  7am to 8pm.

As of this morning, there is a real possibility that Media will not be able to open the Northern Precinct for voters this Tuesday, November 8th.  Due to lack of volunteers, we do not have enough people to staff the polls.
If you or someone you may know who lives in the Norther Precinct can help with this effort, please email me tedmano@gmail.com.  Media also needs help in the Western and Eastern Precincts too.

As reported by the Delcotimes.com, Vice President Joe Biden will be in attendance for Media's Veteran's Day Parade on November 11th.

The parade will begin from the east end of State Street at 11:11 a.m., a special time to commemorate the unique occurrence of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, 2011. Participants will include scout troops, school bands, drill and marching units, Junior ROTC units, civic and business organizations and many military/service groups. The ceremony features the exchange of an American and POW flag to signify passing the legacy from one generation to the next.

320 Cafe on State Street to Open Soon

If you've been on State St. recently you can see behind the paper on the windows that a lot of work is going on at the location for the 320 Cafe.  The more I hear about this place, the more people are excited about it's arrival.

From what I've learned, 320 Cafe could be opened as early as Nov 15th.  Welcome to Med
ia.

What Community Support Really Means.......Plumstead Inn Friday 11/4 7-9m

WOW! I didn't plan on this, nor did I expect it,  but with the outpouring of support from the community from both republicans and democrats this week, there will be a "get out the vote" rally for my campaign tomorrow at the Plumstead Inn from 7 to 9pm.  Candidate, Pete Alyanakian will be on hand, as well as, Media's only schoolboard candidate, Chris Guilday and others.  We'll have some special guests too.

What's important about serving the community, is being part of it.  Not as a campaigning politician with flashy material, but as someone who genuinely cares about what goes on and knows the people who live here.

Thanks for the continued support.  I hope to see you tomorrow night!

Responsible Leadership for Media - Achievements Matter!

With our country divided on nearly every political issue, it refreshing to see a bipartisan cooperation that creates results for voters.  In fact, it's happening here in Media, PA.    Pete Alyanakian and the Media Bipartisan Coalition led by example to bring more notable achievements to Media in the last year, than we've seen in a long time.   All politics are local and it's those who have the confidence to work with others across the "aisle" that truly make for a functioning government.

As a candidate, I hope to continue this cooperation with character and integrity. No one's talking about working together for what's best for Media, but I am!

Tedman O'Hara

This election you can decide to move forward with bi-partisan leadership that has accomplished much in the last 18 months. Much work needs to be done, though we have the team that is committed to the effort.  We cannot afford to return to the days of one party rule, but to be more inclusive in decision making that directly impacts our community.  We look forward to seeing you Tuesday, November 8th
.

Media Needs Help at the Polling Places

Dear Voters,

Media is in urgent need of help at the polls this November 8th.  Regardless of what party you may support, this is a collective effort of people in town (republican, democrats, independents, etc) working together to make sure the polls are open so EVERYONE can vote.

We are in particular need of people in the Eastern and Western Precincts to help with machine setup, majority inspectors, etc.  Some of these are paying positions and training will be provided at the courthouse.  If you're interested, please email info@allthingsmediapa.com and I will forward on your requests.  You can also visit
www.mediarepublicans.com or www.mediademocrats.com to contact your precinct committee person.

If you're unsure of what precinct you're in or the address of the polling place, please review Media's Precinct Map
