Back To School Public Safety Night - Sept. 1, 7pm Media Community Center

John's Grill now has outdoor Dining!

John's Grill on Monroe St.
I don't remember seeing this and it may have been setup for some time, but John's Grill on Monroe St. now has outdoor tables and dining.  People rave about the karaoke night and Tuesday Taco specials.  Aside from Joclyn's, it's one of the few places around that allows smoking inside.

First Keystone is Now Bryn Mawr Trust

State St. Branch
Bryn Mawr Trust has finalized their acquisition of long time community bank First Keystone.  With nine branches, First Keystone served much of the surrounding area as one of the true community banks that took the time to know their customers' needs.

I've been assured that Bryn Mawr Trust will carry on that tradition, and with my experience thus far, they continue to do so.  You may find their online banking lacking, as did I, but they are working on it.

Media Theatre - Garage Band Series - R3 Band Friday, Aug 27

Media Local - R3 Band will be playing at the Media Theatre this Friday, Aug. 27. 7:30pm - 10pm All ages show, tickets $12 at the door (Bar w/beer and wine).  The Broozers, another Media favorite, played here two weeks ago to the delight of many.

Come out and support a great band and a great venue in the Media Theatre.  A few months ago, I got after the Media Theatre for what I felt was a lack of participation in the community.  Well, they've seemed to have proven me wrong and are doing great things with their Garage Band Series. People I talked to from the first event, marvelled at how neat they thought the theatre was but had never been there before, or at least not in a very long time.

So if you've been wanting to see some of the best music around, locally, AT THE MEDIA THEATRE.....then here's you chance!

Jesse and Roger, keep up the great work!

Retraction of my last post

I've retracted my last post.  To potentiallly esclate what would be considered a very sensitive political change with the nomination of a new Borough Council President, would not be in the best interest of this town and what is trying to be accomplished for the good of everyone.

Recognizing that, It's the right thing to do to move on and work together.  That's the focus I want to promote and think everyone should too.

New Home Solutions Store in Media: Jigsaw Home Solutions

While walking through Media this weekend I came across a new store that looks like it just opened up recently.  Jigsaw Home Solutions, located on the corner of Olive St. and Jasper is not only a nice setting for a store, but looks great with their new signs.

The store wasn't open at the time, but they did have stacks of rugs in side.  I'm not sure if it's a retail store, an office for interior design, or both.

Check it out.

Big Belly Solar Compactors making BIG Impact in Media, PA!

The Big Belly Solar (Trash) Compactors are arriving in Media with one set already deployed at the courthouse and a second next to One West State St. (Broduer's).  The solar ability of the units allow for compacting volume, thus lessening man-hours and fuel needed for pickup.  There is also an adjacent bin for recycled items too.

Solar Panels
Recycling and Solar make a great combination with Media Borough being on the forefront.  These efforts don't just happen by luck.  Council President, Pete Alyanakian was responsible with working with State Rep Tom Killion in order to secure a grant for $20,000.   Thanks to leadership in action....making Media better for all!

Closed 3rd St. Bridge cost Media Taxpayers over $240,000 during last 11 years.

It was disclosed at this week's Boro. Council workshop meeting that the 3rd. St bridge which has been closed for over 11 years, has cost the Media residents over $240,000.  Of that amount, over $100,000 was for engineering fees.....but what exactly was engineered? Chain link fencing and concrete barriers?  More concerning is what exactly has council been doing about this for the last 11 years?!?!?!

I would request immediately, that the Media Borough Engineer provide a full, itemized financial report of accumulated costs for this bridge.

It was also mentioned that multiple lawsuits have been filed against the borough regarding the ownership of the bridge. As concerning as this matter is, at least it's now being discussed and hopefully sorted out by the newly re-organized council.

CLOSED FOR OVER 11 YEARS AT A COST OF $240,000!!!
